From memory, when you install the lihux one it will see the old one, upgrade or replace it if necessary. And now it is again printing fine.
Tested through couple reboots and everything seems to be okay so far. I have Ubuntu Mate, so it might look a little different on other flavours. However, I also have printer discovery via Avahi working on my network, so my remote printer appears automatically without needing to configure my local CUPS client at all.
